How Does It Work



A user, should they want, inform health officials of those individuals the user has contacted, if they become diagnosed with COVID-19.


A user will then receive a pin that they will need to enter, which will be provided by the health officials. Once a user enters this pin, this will inform all the individuals on his or her encounter history, so they can take the necessary steps to protect their health.

Traditionally, public health workers must rely on a patients memory in order to track where the patient has been, and whom they have been in contact with. Technology can help overcome these hurdles and decrease the rate of infection growth within the Canadian population.

Mobile Application

TraceScan’s mobile application works by exchanging short-distance Bluetooth signals between phones to detect other participating TraceScan users in close proximity.

If a user tests positive for Covid-19, they can voluntarily upload their TraceScan Bluetooth data to certified health officials who can then use the log history to alert anyone who has been within close proximity to the user.

TraceScan not only protects individuals, but also alerts users promptly if they come in contact with an individual who has tested positive for COVID-19 so that crucial steps can be taken to decrease the further spread of the virus


Only certified health-care officials will be able to access user data through TraceScan using a PIN code. Our technology ensures that a user’s personal information is protected at all times.
